Treat Cavities With Regular Checkups and Dental Fillings
Regular checkups at Midtown Dental Clinic can reveal that your teeth may need fillings. These are used to replace any part of your tooth structure affected by decay. New material fills in the hole left by decay. The most common type of dental filling in current use is a bonded, tooth-colored composite resin.
If cavities are caught early enough, they can be easily and painlessly treated. If not, further issues like tooth pain or infection can occur, which can result in a root canal or tooth extraction. To schedule your next dental exam, fillings, or any dental care, please call Midtown Dental Clinic.
Repair Damaged Teeth With Dental Bonding
The bonding process involves adhering a composite, tooth-colored resin material to the front of your tooth. Bonding is done to repair any damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter its alignment, to close any gaps, or simply for cosmetic purposes.
First, the tooth's surface is roughened so it can accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is then applied to micro-etch the surface of your tooth. A primer or bond agent is applied to make sure the material adheres to the tooth's surface. Finally, the material is placed on your tooth and hardened using intense light. The resin material is shaped and polished as the final step.
Protect Your Teeth With Sealants
Sealants are used to fill in narrow grooves in your teeth that cannot be properly cleaned by brushing alone. In some cases, your tooth's structure has fine grooves or pits that can accumulate plaque. This has nothing to do with your brushing technique. The grooves are simply too narrow for toothbrush bristles to reach.
With dental sealant, a coating is brushed on that seals any grooves and pits, making it possible to successfully brush all of your teeth and keep them healthy and clean.
