Use Dental Crowns to Restore Your Smile
When you have a tooth that is likely to break or is too broken down to be restored with a filling, a crown is usually your best option. Crowns cover over the weakened tooth, providing strength and protecting it from potential breakage.
At Midtown Dental Clinic, we commonly place a crown following a root canal treatment or when a larger filling has worn out. The larger the hole created by a cavity, the more likely a crown is necessary. A large filling can also cause your tooth to break. A broken or cracked tooth is far more difficult to treat. If you have chipped, cracked, or broken teeth, please call us right away to schedule an appointment.
Beautiful Crowns in Two Office Visits
Dental crowns are usually made of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all-ceramic material, or simply gold. It takes two appointments to restore your tooth with a crown. In your first visit, the crown is shaped following the removal of any decay. A temporary crown is worn until the permanent crown is cemented in place at your second visit.
